Published to co-incide with the XVI Exposição de Camélias do Porto, the 16th Annual Exposition of Camellias in Porto, 12-13 March 2011, this book provides a comprehensive list of the camellias originated in Portugal. A revision and expansion of a basic list of Portuguese camellias published a year earlier, this volume reflects nearly a decade of research into historic books and catalogs by the authors and other camellia enthusiasts in Portugal, and is well illustrated with photos by Horácio Garcia Costa. 

The authors' conclusion to the foreword shows that the effort is still ongoing. "Hopefully this Second List will provide a basic tool for all Camellia Friends:  please help us in the hardest task ahead of us, classifying and identifying these varieties.....Every detail is precious, either written or through oral transmission!  This will help us defend and promote a natural heritage that is ours:  Portuguese camellias."
